Miss India 2012: Candigarh girl wins top spot!

Vanya Mishra, a 19-year-old student from Chandigarh, Prachi Mishra, a 24-year-old investment advisor from Allahabad and 23-year-old TV anchor Rochelle Maria Rao from Chennai won the top honours at the Pantaloons Femina Miss India on Friday. 

Vanya Mishra was crowned Miss India-World while Prachi will represent the Miss Earth competition and Rochelle Maria Rao will be India's girl at Miss International. 

The event held in Mumbai featured prominent Bollywood stars including Sonam Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Tusshar Kapoor, Sonu
Nigam and Ekta Kapoor  among others. 

Also performing on stage were Akshay Kumar, Ali Zafar and Nargis Fakhri even as Tusshar and Riteish promoted their film even as they ribbed the judges including Tusshar's sister Ekta. 

When time came to select the top winner, the choice was made easy by Vanya Mishra when she was asked to pick between providing 1000 permanent jobs and feeding 1000 underprivileged kids. Mishra picked the latter and walked home with the crown.

Jalandhar girl wins Femina Miss India World title
Vanya Mishra was Friday crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India (PFMI) World 2012 title at a gala event here.

She will represent India at the global pageant later this year.

Rochelle Maria Rao from Chennai won the title of Miss India International, while Prachi Mishra from Pune is Miss India Earth.

The winners were decided by a jury panel that comprised of actresses Sonam Kapoor and Sonali Bendre; filmmakers Ekta Kapoor and Rohit Shetty; cricketer Harbhajan Singh; designer Raghavendra Rathore; singer Sonu Niigaam and TV actress Sakshi Tanwar. They picked up the best three out of 20 contestants.

The deciding question was - "If you have an option, will you create thousand jobs or feed thousand children daily?"

Miss India 2011 title holders Kanistha Dhankhar, Hasleen Kaur and Ankita Shorey crowned the winners.

The event, which took place at the Bhavans Ground, saw scintillating performance by Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri. Singer actor Ali Zafar enthralled the audience with his power packed "Madhubala" performance from the movie "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan".
Ayushman Khurana and Manish Paul hosted the event.
